I don’t often discuss my chronic pain, but every now and then I like to write something that I hope others will find useful!
Unfortunately, chronic pain is one of those things that you need to learn to manage. You have to find things that work for you- and some of the following things are what I have tried, and hope they may help you in future.
I took up yoga last year after hearing it’s a form of exercise that can be quite gentle on your joints and body in general. It always tends to be pain permitting, but after a session of yoga I always feel slightly better.
Along with being good for your body- it can also be a great help for your mental health. I use it to unwind after a stressful day or perhaps some sad news.
I don’t pay for classes, and just do it from the comfort of my own home. I really love to follow YogaWithAdriene on YouTube and find her videos really easy to follow.
Kayla from ArogaYoga sent me some books about yoga for chronic pain, and I’m super excited to give them a go.
I always say that I’ll literally try anything to help my chronic pain. I actually discovered a hemp gel not long ago- and after the glowing reviews I decided to give it a go.
When my muscles are aching or my knee is really hurting I tend to slather some on. It smells like Voltarol and has a cooling, but slightly refreshing feel on your joints.
Additionally, Synerva CBD Oils were kind enough to send me a 10% oil to try! This was slightly weird for me, due to the fact you actually have to ingest it, but there is no foul taste. It’s easy to use- with one drop under your tongue every day.
I don’t want to speculate and say that it has cured me- due to the fact many different things impact my joint pain, but I’m hoping it makes some slight difference.
Additionally, a recent case of shingles has left me deflated, stressed and mentally drained, and I’m hoping that this oil provides me with some relief.
I’m still in the process of trying it and seeing what happens- but as I said, I’m open to trying anything if it helps with the pain I have most days.
I have always used heat when I have aching joints and they’re quite painful.
Baths are a life saver when the weather turns colder- i.e. now Autumn is upon us. I love to mix in some muscle soothing bubble bath, salts and a drop of peppermint oil.
In addition, deep heat, tiger balm and heaties are always in my bedside drawers. Tiger balm is one of the best things I’ve ever discovered and I recommend it whenever people have an ache.
One of those things that I was told about and thought it wouldn’t help. However, I swear by Turmeric tea, which I absolutely love.
A must try if you are looking for something to help!
